With both sides being positioned in the top half of the standings, Kinondoni Municipal Council FC sitting ninth and Geita Gold FC sitting tenth, it promises to be a tight encounter with only goal difference separating them after 10 games.
Geita Gold FC head coach Fred Felix ‘Minziro’ charges have three wins, one loss, and one draw in their last five league games.
They were on an unbeaten streak of four games before succumbing to that defeat against in-form Yanga in their last outing.
The usual danger-man for Geita Gold FC would have been forward George Mpole, who has scored two league goals.
The goal-getter falling out with the club management means that forward Danny Lyanga and midfielder Said Ntibazonkiza will be the players to be wary of in front of the goal.
The visiting Kinondoni Municipal Council FC was last in action on November 1 when they were beaten 1-0 by Kagera Sugar at Kaitaba Stadium.
In their last five league matches, Kinondoni Municipal Council FC has only won twice along with two losses and one draw.
In an interview ahead of the match, Kinondoni Municipal Council FC head coach Thiery Hitimana felt they can get back to winning ways against Geita Gold FC having lost back-to-back against Kagera Sugar and Yanga despite putting up good performances.
The Rwandan gaffer said: “We played well against Yanga but lost in the end, against Kagera Sugar we controlled the match but committed an individual error that cost us. That’s football… we’ll go to Geita Gold FC with the confidence of bouncing back.”
He stated: “It will be a tough game because we are tied in the league table but we have to approach them with confidence.”
“We indeed lost in our last encounter against them but we have learned and will sit down and correct our mistakes to get a positive result.”
The Kinondoni tax collectors will look to midfielder Steven Nzigamasabo to open up the Geita Gold FC defense and at the other end of the field, defenders Ibrahim Ame and Sadala Lipangile will be vital to keep the goals out for coach Hitimana’s side.
In head-to-head meetings, the two have faced each other twice in the top flight, with each side claiming a victory in their home games last season.
In December 2021, at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Kinondoni Municipal Council FC beat Geita Gold FC 2-0 thanks to goals by Matheo Anthony and Abdulrazack Hamza.
Then in April this year at Nyankumbu Girls Secondary School Stadium, Geita Gold FC saw off Kinondoni Municipal Council FC 2-0 with the goals scored by Mpole and Amos Kadikilo.
